My two companies (Syntric & October17 Media) are sponsoring a charity wine auction next week. This is our second year on the sponsorship panel and I'm really excited to share with you that they've already received double last years fund raising dollars in wine & kind contributions.
Anyhow, it's not to late to donate! Minimum donations for the auction is wine of a $50+ value. All funds raised will go directly to Big Sisters of BC Lower Mainland.

I'm thinking about organizing a group to go to the 2008 Canada Cup of Beer July 5th! I've contacted them to see if I can get a group rate. If you want to go, let me know, I'm hoping we can do a massive 30+ person group beer party.
I knew I was meant to be a celebrity, here's my chance! Just kidding, ok, no, I'm not. Seriously, moi was invited to the 'celebrity soiree' on May 7th at the Blue Water Cafe. It’s a fundraiser for the Red Cross and I've been told that wine will flow freely and yummy appies will be served.
Celebs who have accepted the invitation so far are:
(I'll explain the parsley in a little bit). It's like Christmas around here.
Remember how we had all our stuff stolen out of our car garage on easter weekend? Well, our insurance has granted us the ability to purchase like or kind goods. Minus the $500 deducible and any upgrades that we want, it's pay for. See? House insurance is worth the money! Helped us out when we got screwed.
Seriously. Summer's coming, they have a patio, they serve yam fries, it's the day before we start the work week and.. (as if you needed one more reason) Granville Island creates a 'special' beer just for that restaurant every Sunday! Yep, unique one-of-a-kind cask beers just for The Whip Restaurant!
The cask is opened at 4pm every Sunday. Last sunday they had a Ginger Beer.
Ok, you're still not convinced to take part in Sunday sessions? Sigh, you're a hard sell. Well, if you're a local they offer a 15% locals discount on lunch and dinner. Nuff' said!
I tell no lies. My life is wayyyy less stressful because of 5 minutes well spent. And this stress-free living will last two more full years and only cost me the bargain price of $89.95 USD! It's probably even saving me money with the amount of work time I'm able to recoup.
I have decided that my next vacation (after Bali) will be here. I know it will cost me a ton but I just don't give a damn. You can get their from Guam or Manilla. (Flying to Honolulu to Guam or Japan to Guam / Manilla).
Today (I went yesterday, Saturday April 19th, 2008) I was in Sears on Robson in Vancouver and was buying a tube of Clinique deep comfort body cream and the lady informed me that if I 'pre-ordered' the cream instead of buying it now I could get a free 'Clinique Bonus'. So, esentially I couldn't buy the product now (even though it was in stock), I had to come back between April 25th and May 13th to pick up my order. If I did, I'd get:
And I'm totally into it! I know it came out a while ago but I just borrowed it from a business colleague of mine. I actually really admire the lender and he spoke highly of this novel and how it helped him gear his business. So, I'm taking his advice and working my way through the book.
So far I'm finding much of the material interesting. Some I've heard before, some I haven't. But, his exercises are to be taken seriously and given due time to ensure they actually create the outcome. So, I'm seeing it more as a process.
Essentially so far, it's been about action without digression... if that makes sense!?
It's official! Charlotte, Ben Grimshaw, Luke Vallee & I will be going to Bali in October for three WHOLE weeks. Yes, you read that right THREE!
What are we going to do in Bali? Where are we going to stay? How much does it cost? I'm so excited I've been working it all out and can share it with you.
We got cheap tickets!!
I'll be calling to book my flight tomorrow from Seattle to Bali for October! I'm feeling really good about the price. It's going to be a long painful journey but worth the $426 per ticket we're saving! Or rather $1704 cheaper between the four of us just because we're flying from Seattle.
Yesterday night, some of the entourage and I had a random outing to the Vancouver WhiteCaps game!
We sky trained it over to the game in Burnaby, the first of the season. When we arrived we managed to buy one ticket from a scalper on the way in for 10$. However, when we reached the gate they only had the expensive platinum seats left ($35). In this unpleasant change of event we considered going home. Though, somehow, through a variety of reasons we all managed to get in for FREE!!
Did you guys know that Beckham is coming back to play here again? Yep, L.A. Galaxy is coming and tickets from $25 are on sale right now. May 13th @7pm, Commonwealth stadium. The most expensive seats are $85 for all you british ex-pats out there from Man U.
Kids should all be enrolled in air cadets! They should!
You think I'm crazy for saying that, don't you? Well, I'm not. I'm telling you it's the most cost effective educational activity you can send your child to. For a nominal fee (thanks to donations, fundraising ect.) your child can experience things such like paint ball, camping excursions, trips to army bases, flying gliders, sports, flying lessons, social events, learn leadership skills and the benefits of good old hard work to name just a few.
I'm planning a new event!
Boat Ride!! This summer we're going to rent a boat (maybe from this boat rental place in Coal Harbor) and head out on the water for a few hours (Email me if you want to come). We'll take some lunch & bevvy's. Get ourselves outside in the bright golden sun and enjoy a beautiful summer day on the water!
I'm thinking of inviting a bunch of people so we can travel as a group. More the merrier. Maybe we'll find a beech we can pull over at, have a little race, take a look at some wildlife.
Do you love bargain shopping? Is hunting through discounted goods at the local Winners store actually seem like fun to you? Then, may I recommend a cross-boarder trip to the States. I have a shopping plan of action all figured out. We (my family and I) have been doing it for years and we've learnt a few tricks of the trade!
In this post, I'll be covering:
What stores to check out that are 'Winners-esque'
A day's itinerary (what, when & why)
How to deal with the boarder guards so you won't get searched
Random tidbits on how to make your shopping trip smooth! (Nexus pass, Paying at Costco, Best times to cross the boarder)
This is how a well-organized States savvy bargain shopper should set up their day!
Thanks to a beautiful, lovely, intelligent and most of all patient friend of mine, Jaclyn, on Saturday morning at 10am I was the proud owner of TWO (yes, you read that right) TWO tickets to see Dave Matthew's Band @ the Gorge. I have a ticket for the Saturday AND Sunday night show! (August 28th and 30th, 2008) We're on the lawn, but really, who cares? I've been told that that's where the big party is anyhow!
Tickets were only $40 each per night and camping was cheap as chips too. A mere pittance for the value!
