Mr. Mayer's - Where the Light is (Live in L.A)
I have a strange affliction with John Mayer. At the start I didn't like him. I didn't get the music and I just wasn't that into him. I kind of saw him as a cheezier, more main stream and slightly less talented Jack Johnson. (Ok, even I'll admit the boy has some guitar skillz). But, Mr. Mayer found himself in the media spotlight more and more. I couldn't help but find his cheeky boyish charm and witty interactions with the paparazzi intriguing.
A few years ago I found myself at one of his concerts filling in for a friend. The concert was ho-hum. But, I boiled that down again to being not very in-tune with his music. It did push me to download a few other songs of his and I really did start to like a few. But recently, his personality has won me over.. I almost listen to him.. because of him, if that makes sense?
Check out this photo of him with Ms. Aniston. Obviously this little relationship is a TOTAL media sham. I love it for what it is.. totally fake & obscene. It's a good story! Who benefits more from this relationship.. John with his new live album or Aniston with her flicks? Debatable. I think Aniston.
And, have you ever read his really strange and random ramblings on his blog? He's totally a little bit nutso.
Anyhow, the new album "Where the Light is" (Live in L.A.) actually is quite a nice compilation of his work. I'm really digging his version of 'Free Fallin'. I was a big fan of that song since I was a child, so it's nice to hear it back and with a softer take. Below is the new AMAZON mp3 widget so you can check out some of the tunes. I'm boycotting the itunes affiliate program because they suck. :)
