Paradiso Typeface :: A Playful Alphabet

According to Myfonts.com's newsletter: Brian J. Bonislawsky’s successful script font Montelago was based on a logo from one of Las Vegas’ casino hotels. On a stroll across his home town, the Vegas-based, self-proclaimed “Professor of Fontology” found a similar source of inspiration in the Paris Resort and Casino. Its logo has a high “ooh-la-la” factor, with a capital P that is decidedly lustful. Taking his cues from just that one cap and four lowercase letters, Bonislawsky drew a lively, frisky alphabet with huge initial capitals. Paradiso is great for packaging, book covers and magazine headlines.

Blog about lowercase g?

Oh, I think I should get a new domain name. Maybe lowercaseg.com, haha? My blog can be all about the lowercase g's in typefaces. It's all I seem to care about. Why can't I be into the letter 'E' or 'T' since they're the most used letters in the alphabet? It just can't work that way, that would make too much sense.

Why is it that the COOL letters get the least amount of use. Maybe it's their unattainable and unused quality? Or maybe I'm just sick of E's and A's.

Aviano :: A classic

Aviano font strikes me as a beauty and a rarity. It says to me; influence, meaningful, momentous and high profile. It must be those serifs. I'm always attracted to R's, K's and Q's decenders that do the swooshy thing. They give the words a nice graphical element.

Pretty nifty! I'm always needing parts of the world for something or another and then cursing myself for not saving the last one I downloaded from istock. I mean - who really has the time to draw this all out accurately. This is wicked. We can just take 'em into illustrator and create outlines -- poof, there is our vector continent illustration!

Fifteen36 :: The Olde Testament

It's the Q! It's the q! I'm not going to lie. The capital and lowercase Q's are just damn cool. I'm a sucker for that kind of descending curl that Fifteen36 has.

Churchward Newstype :: Funkify

Interesting font. I find it works well as all caps too - I know, usually a typographic no-no. But, sometimes I just can't help wanting to put short one or two word headlines in a funky sanserif using [GASP], dare I say it, ALL CAPS!

Calligraphia Latina :: Heavy Embellishment!!

Calligraphic Latina is freaking STUNNING! It would be hard to not use these embellishments. Think invitations, think wedding, think grandeur, think stylish menu's... this is trés chic!

Cora :: Type Together

Cora is a sans serif with an experimental bent, offering a large x-height, some contrast of stroke weight, and capitals inspired by classical lettering.

My thoughts? Good from a distance (except for the bold) and good for when you need a thicker font to stand out against a detailed background. It's slightly girly because of the soft edging. The font seems to need quite a bit of kerning - so you'll have to play with it a little.
